Responsibilities

As Neuroimaging Lab Manager and Research Fellow, Vanessa is responsible for the RCCN's High Density EEG facility and assists with fMRI research within the RCCN. Vanessa is also supervisor using behavioural methods, EEG, & fMRI to investigate movement disorders and music processing.
 

Biography

Vanessa completed her PhD from Melbourne, during which she spent 11 months collecting data for her PhD in Hannover, Germany. After her PhD she returned to Auckland and completed two Post-Doctoral Fellowships in Psychology and Sport and Exercise Science. Vanessa is now the Psychology Department’s Neuroimaging Laboratory Manager and Research Fellow.

Research interests

Vanessa has spent over ten years investigating sensorimotor integration in individuals with Focal Hand Dystonia (a movement disorder) and more recently Parkinson’s disease. Aside from movement disorders, Vanessa has a great interest and several publications in the areas of the cognitive neuroscience of music, auditory processing, amusia, and tonal language processing.
