• This paper presents an analysis of panel attrition in the NZAVS. The paper presents a logistic regression model assessing the base rate and covariates associated with four distinct classes of respondents: explicit withdrawals, lost respondents, intermittent respondents and constant respondents. Results indicate that systematic attrition in the New Zealand Attitudes and Values Study is relatively low. However, Asian peoples and those with less education are among those most likely explicitly withdraw from the study. An online version of the paper is available here.

• This paper compared the level of bias and degree of tracking accuracy in the NZAVS and One News Colmar Brunton election polls in the lead up to the New Zealand general election (February 2014 to September 2014). Results showed that the NZAVS tracked similar changes in voter sentiment over time to those observed in the One News Colmar Brunton election polls conducted over the same time period. These results provide good support for the ability of the NZAVS to provide population estimates of political attitudes and values.

• This chapter describes the development of the Multi-dimensional Model of Māori Identity and Cultural Engagement (or MMM-ICE). This is an indigenous self-report questionnaire developed specifically to assess social identity for Māori peoples. This measure was developed by members of the New Zealand Attitudes and Values Study research group, and we include the MMM-ICE as one of our survey instruments. In this chapter we outline our general approach and research philosophy for scale development.

• This paper describes the development and coding scheme for the self-report measure of sexual orientation self-labels employed in the NZAVS. The measure asks participants "How would you describe your sexual orientation?" and provides an open-ended response box for participants to write the description that they feel best describes their sexual orientation. These open-ended responses are then coded using a two-level classification scheme that we outline in this paper.
