Professional Teaching Fellow, Andrea Mead

Congratulations to Andrea Mead from the School of Psychology, for being the recipient of the Inaugural Goldstone Travelling Award.

This award was established last year by the Faculty of Science to recognise Margaret Goldstone's contribution to the faculty and University, with the aim of enhancing teaching practices, the award provides funding and approved leave (of up to four weeks) for senior tutors and professional teaching fellows to visit other tertiary institutions.

With the support of this award, Andrea intends to visit James Cook University (JCU) in Queensland, Australia, to learn more about the development and facilitation of a “Peer Assisted Study Support” programme (PASS) for first year students. As a qualified PASS supervisor, Andrea will build on her experience at JCU to establish a Psychology specific PASS programme at the University of Auckland. She will also be in a position to share her experience with others across the Faculty and University, to assist with the development of similar programmes in other disciplines.

Congratulations again to Andrea! We look forward to hearing more about PASS programmes, in the future.
